AUSTRALIAN travellers planning an overseas holiday or business trip have been urged to finalise flight arrangements as soon as possible to beat the latest fuel surcharge increases.
Flight Centre Limited (FLT) managing director Graham Turner said a traveller planning to book Qantas flights to Europe or the United States would save $60 on a return flight by simply paying in full before the surcharge increased on
Mr Turner said travellers planning to book return Qantas flights to other international destinations could also save between $20 and $40 per person by beating the April 12 ticketing deadline.
“International airfares are exceptionally affordable at the moment, but there is obviously no need to pay extra if you can avoid it,” Mr Turner said.
“If you plan to travel overseas with Qantas in the short to medium term, our advice is to consider paying in full as soon as possible to ensure the ticket is issued before April 12.
“During the next two weeks, our retail travel consultants and corporate travel account managers will attempt to contact as many customers as possible to advise them of the short-term savings opportunity.
“For families in particular, the savings opportunity is significant.
“Theoretically, a family of four travelling to the UK or the USA can save $240 by booking and paying before the increase is applied.”
